The September meetup was a great event, hosted at Deavor, curated by Athletics and co-sponsored by Athletics and WPEngine. With three great speakers, it was no wonder we had an attendance of around 60 or 70 Pressers!
- Jameson Proctor, Partner, Athletics
- Dale Liszka, Rockhouse Partners
- Mark Kelnar, Director of Engineering for WP Engine Labs
If you missed out, we are happy to say that the team at Deavor were able to record the speakers and are currently editing the video for the web. We will do a followup post when the videos are ready.
We want to take a minute and say thank you to the team at Athletics for putting on such a great night of speaking. They put a lot of effort into the meetup in a very short amount of time. In addition to curating the venue, the speakers and a sponsor, they also took the extra funding, matched it and gave it as a donation to the Nashville Software School (NSS). If you have not heard of the NSS, please check it out. They are a non-profit software school with great professors, focused classes and high success rate! The final total donated was $600, and we want to give a huge thanks to Athletics and WPEngine for that. Education is a key component to a healthy community!
We have high hopes that other businesses or individuals would be interested in curating WordPress meetups of their own. Whether large or small, community interaction is the primary reason we like to come together as a group! If you would like to know more please read up on how to schedule an event with the Nashville WordPress meetup on our how to page.
“I found the format of multiple speakers for different topics to be really great – I hope there are more of these in the future.” – Beth Downey
